White Course Drive Kiosk Now Fully Operational

• Red A permit holders, those with permits authorizing all-area access, personnel in service and departmental vehicles, and the Campus Link may access the White Course Drive by utilizing the far right pass-through lane.  All other personnel wishing to access this section of White Course Drive must first stop at the kiosk to speak with the attendant.  Users of both lanes still need to make the required stop as indicated by the stop sign to ensure vehicle safety.

• We encourage personnel who wish to drop off or pick up employees along this area of White Course Drive to access the area prior to 8:00A.M. and after 4:00P.M. only.  If it is necessary to enter between those hours, then those personnel must stop at the kiosk and speak to the attendant.

• Deliveries by service vehicles and businesses are allowed in this area of White Course Drive, but they, too, must stop at the kiosk for authorization.

No student vehicles are allowed access to this area of White Course Drive between 8:00A.M. and 4:00P.M., Monday through Friday.

• There is no through traffic permitted on White Course Drive to College Avenue.

Construction Updates — June 24, 2004

East Deck – The 1,273-space East Deck should open on schedule in August 2004. It will be transponder controlled, as the AVI equipment system has worked very well in the Nittany and HUB Decks. Transponders and permits will be assigned beginning August 1. We are polling departments to determine how many spaces they will need. In addition, Bigler Road will have a turning lane added for vehicles traveling onto Park Avenue.

Food Sciences Building – This project will go to bid in late summer 2004.

Forestry Project – The Forestry project has not yet been scheduled.

HUB Deck – The HUB Deck is completed. Transponders have been distributed to the permit holders.

McAllister/HUB – There is a new project between McAllister and the HUB that may take up to ten days and may affect Brown H parking. ADA space may be moved to the McAllister side of the driveway to service the Post Office.

Pollock Road Project – The East Kiosk is installed but not yet operational. The West Kiosk will be installed in front of Steidle. The road off Burrowes Road between Reber and Deike will be “exit only.” The entrance will be off Pollock Road. Short-term visitor spaces will be available in Brown A behind Willard to serve the Workbench, the Microcomputer Order Center, the Libraries, and others. These spaces will be monitored by the Kiosk attendants. The Kiosk will be staffed from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The current gates will remain in place on Pollock Road to prohibit through traffic. Personnel who get dropped off at work will be allowed to enter Pollock Road until 8:00 a.m. After 8:00 a.m., entry will be restricted to Brown permit holders. Personnel needing to drop off or unload large amounts of supplies will be permitted access to the area if space is available. Students are prohibited from entering Pollock Road between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Shortlidge Mall Project – A pedestrian mall is being constructed between Pollock and Chemistry and Life Sciences. Emergency vehicles will have access to the mall, which should be completed by fall 2004. The new drive behind the Boucke loading dock to Ritenour is for ADA, ambulance, MPDP Retired Member, and Urgent Care parking spaces. Students who are very ill may park in the HUB Deck. Students will require validation that they have been to University Health Services and must pay as they exit the Deck.

Rec Hall Expansion Project – Plans are in the works to expand Rec Hall to include a new fitness center and provide updated facilities for the wrestling program. Construction is scheduled to begin in fall 2004, and the project will extend into the Red H lot.

Red A Kiosk Project – Construction on the Kiosk Information Booth on White Course Road should be complete by fall 2004. The Kiosk will be staffed from approximately 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

SALA Building – The SALA Building is currently under construction and is scheduled for completion in 2005.
