Enforcement

So you have a parking ticket—what a pain.

The fine associated with your ticket depends on whether you have been cited for an administrative violation or a regulatory violation.

ADMINISTRATIVE VIOLATIONS
(this is the type of ticket you’ll get if your vehicle is NOT REGISTERED with us)

•   Handicapped Space ($50) – Parked in a handicapped space—or its adjacent access aisle—without the proper state-issued handicapped placard displayed.

•   Meter Violation ($11) – Parked at a meter that does not have any time remaining.

•   No Parking Area ($15) – Parked in an area that is posted as a no parking zone.

•   Reserved Parking Area ($15) – Parked in a reserved lot without the proper permit.

Things You Should Know

•   You must pay your ticket within 30 days of the date it was issued, or it will be converted into a traffic citation and filed at the District Justice.

•   The Pennsylvania legislature has set the fines and costs of most parking citations at $64.00 per violation.

•   Pennsylvania law allows for arrest warrants to be issued for the owner of a vehicle that has received a citation.

•   Your vehicle may be towed—at your expense—if you get too many tickets.
All the fine money collected from registered student tickets goes to scholarships, endowments, and student activity funds. So when you pay your ticket, it’s like you’re donating to a good cause…yourself!

REGULATORY VIOLATIONS
(this is the type of ticket you’ll get if your vehicle is REGISTERED with us)

•   Curb/Roadway ($15) – Parked along roadways, curbs, or driveways.

•   Display ($7) – Vehicle has a valid permit but it is not properly displayed.

•   15-Minute Zone ($11) – Parked in a 15-minute space in excess of the allowed 15 minutes.  This violation is also used for the 20 and 30 minute spaces.

•   Fraudulent, Altered, Unauthorized Permit ($20 plus automatic revocation) – Vehicle displays a permit that has been altered or fabricated, or a permit that has been requested returned to the Parking Office. If you receive this type of ticket, your permit will be automatically revoked.

•   Handicapped Space ($50) – Parked in a handicapped space—or its adjacent access aisle—without the proper state-issued handicapped placard displayed.

•   Loading Zone ($15) – Parked in a loading zone without flashers operating and with no evidence of loading or unloading.

•   Meter Violation ($11) – Parked at a meter that does not have any time remaining.

•   Moving Violation ($20) – Issued when an individual's bicycle or vehicle is moving in violation of posted signs (i.e., failing to stop at a stop sign or going the wrong way down a one-way street).

•   No Parking Area ($15) – Parked in an area that is posted as a no parking zone.

•   Parked Outside Lines ($15) – Vehicle tires and/or bumpers are not within the confines of all lines indicating a legal parking space.

•   Reserved Space ($15) – Parked in a space reserved by sign without the proper permit.

•   Restricted Area ($15) – Parked in an area during a time when parking is restricted in that area.

•   Revoked Privileges ($50) – Parked on campus while on-campus parking privileges are revoked.

•   Snow Restriction ($15) – Parked in a surface lot during restricted hours of a Midnight Clear.

•   Unregistered Vehicle ($50) – Parked on campus without having the vehicle properly registered with a permit.

•   Wrong Area ($11) – Parked in a lot where the assigned permit is not valid.

Things You Should Know

•   You must pay your ticket within 30 calendar days of the date of violation, or you will be charged a $3 late fee—and a hold will be placed on your registration and transcript. If you would like to have ticket fees charged to your student account, you must provide written authorization to the Parking Office.

•   If you pay your ticket within three business days of the violation, we will subtract $2 from the cost of the original ticket.

•   Your permit may be revoked if you get too many tickets.
