Visiting University Park

If you have a student permit for a Penn State campus other than University Park, your parking options at University Park depend on when you will be on campus.

Weekends or Evenings
Weekdays

Please note that student permits from Penn State campuses other than University Park are not valid anytime in lots reserved seven days per week. These include the lots indicated by red stripes on the student parking map - (pdf), all resident student lots on campus, and overnight storage Lot 43. Unauthorized vehicles in these lots are subject to ticketing and/or towing at the owner’s expense, as stated on the lot entrance signs.

All lots are subject to additional hours of restriction based on special campus events or University needs as determined by the Parking Office. For example, during home football games, Penn State permits are not valid east of Bigler Road. During Bryce Jordan Center events, Penn State permits are not valid in Lot 44 (Jordan East) or Stadium West, but are valid in Orange E at the Shields Building.

Weekends or Evenings
Current Penn State student permits issued by a campus other than University Park are valid after 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and on weekends in most, but not all, faculty/staff lots on campus. Lots that are open for evening/weekend parking are marked with yellow stripes on our student parking map - (pdf).

To park in East, HUB, or Nittany Decks after 4:00 p.m. on weekdays, you must take a stub from the machine to lift the gate. When exiting, you must give the attendant your stub and make sure he or she sees your permit. If you lose the stub, or if you park during restricted hours (7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday), you will be charged $12.00 to exit. Please note that parking at the decks is “head-in” only; do not back into the spaces. Only compact cars can park in the spaces signed “VEHICLE MUST BE WITHIN ALL LINES.” These spaces are located at the ends of each level of the decks and the ends of the rows on each level and include a back line..

During announced “Midnight Clears” in the winter months, overnight parking (midnight to 7:00 a.m.) is only permitted in the enclosed areas of the parking decks. It is not permitted in surface faculty/staff lots or on the roofs of parking decks. Vehicles parked on the roofs of the decks or in surface faculty/staff lots will be ticketed and/or towed at the owner’s expense. Vehicles must be moved out of the decks and back into assigned lots by 8:00 a.m. the morning following a Midnight Clear.

Weekdays
To park on campus between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, you will need to obtain a one-day permit to park in our commuter lots or a semester commuter permit (see below). Student permits from campuses other than University Park are not valid at University Park during these times.

After 4:00 p.m., you may move your vehicle from the commuter lot to an authorized staff area. There is no parking in the commuter lots from 2:00 to 4:00 a.m., and vehicles must be removed from the commuter lots by midnight on the Friday before home football games. There is no overnight parking anywhere on campus with the University Park commuter permit.

No-fare bus services, such as The Loop or the Campus Shuttle, are available to transport individuals from the commuter lots onto campus. No ID is required.

One-Day Permits: To obtain a one-day permit that will allow you to park in one of our commuter lots, Lot 44 (Jordan East) or Stadium West, please go to any Kiosk Information Booth, the Central Pennsylvania Convention & Visitors Bureau, or the Parking Office (1 Eisenhower Parking Deck).
