Parking Permits

If you want to park your vehicle on campus, you may need to purchase a parking permit—which must be displayed on your vehicle’s rearview mirror. Please remember to read and abide by posted parking restrictions.  Any vehicle parked in violation of regulations is subject to towing at the owner's expense.

When will you be here?

Overnight – If you will be staying at The Nittany Lion Inn, you will be issued an overnight guest pass that is valid in the Nittany Parking Deck. You do not need a pass or permit to park at The Penn Stater, which is located off campus.

On a Weekday – You may use metered parking or obtain a visitor parking permit from a Kiosk Information Booth, the Central Pennsylvania Convention and Visitors Bureau, or the Parking Office. In some lots on campus, no permit is required after 5:00 p.m. Check the signs posted at the entrance to each lot for restrictions.  Hourly parking is available in the East, HUB and Nittany Parking Decks.

On Saturday or Sunday – Subject to posted restrictions, such as reserved hours and days of the lots, no permit is required to park in some lots on campus. Check the signs at each lot for details.

NOTE: Students and employees of any other Penn State location are not considered visitors. Non-University Park Penn State faculty/staff permits are only valid in Orange open staff lots or Lot 44.
