Semester’s Last Weekend of New York Bus Service Fast Approaching

The Big Apple Express’s first year was a rousing success and there are only a few more chances to take advantage of this great weekend service before semester’s end. Its final trips of the spring will run on Thursday, April 24, with the final bus returning to State College on Sunday, April 27.

Hundreds have enjoyed the quick and easy bus service this year. For the low price of $40 one-way and $80 roundtrip, you can enjoy a fun and convenient trip to the Big Apple. Departure and arrival times may vary due to weather or traffic conditions.

Busses will leave at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday and will arrive in New York City at approximately 7:15 p.m., after a brief stop in Dover, NJ at around 6:15 p.m.

Penn Staters living out of town that want to spend a weekend in Happy Valley before the end of the semester can also take advantage of the Big Apple Express. A bus departs the Port Authority at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and arrives in State College at 1:00 a.m. on Friday, also with a brief stop in Dover, NJ.

Busses leave State College on Friday at 2:30 p.m. and arrive at 7:15 p.m. The express returns to State College on Friday from the Port Authority at 8:00 p.m. On Sunday, busses will leave State College at 11:00 a.m. and arrive in New York around 3:45 p.m.

Order your tickets now. Tickets can be purchased at the Bus Depot at 152 North Atherton Street in State College or by calling 814-238-1100 or 814-238-7971. Online ticket purchases are not yet available.

People with disabilities are asked to call 800-942-8287 to coordinate accessibility needs up to 48 hours in advance. The Big Apple Express will continue service during the first weekend of fall semester.


Penn State’s New York Bus Service to Begin Thursday Trips

Due to the success of the Big Apple Express weekend bus service to New York, Penn State Transportation and Fullington Tours are adding an extra day to its weekly service.

For a limited time, Thursday bus trips to and from New York City will be available starting on February 28. Busses will leave at 2:30 p.m. every Thursday and will arrive in New York City at approximately 7:15 p.m., after a brief stop in Dover, NJ at around 6:15 p.m.

Happy Valley to New York City

Broadway, Times Square, the Statue of Liberty, and more! It’s easier than ever for Penn Staters to see the city lights from Happy Valley.

Jump on the Big Apple Express and before you know it, you’ll be marveling at all things New York. The bus trip is an express route to New York City, with a brief stop at the Rockaway Mall in Dover, NJ.

The weekend trip:

  • Is a great way for Penn State groups to see New York City
  • Leaves from the Fullington Bus Depot (152 North Atherton Street) in State College
  • Arrives in New York City at the Port Authority
  • Allows you to tour New York all day Saturday and Sunday

New York City to Happy Valley

Looking at colleges? Want to visit the beautiful and scenic campus of Penn State University? Here’s your chance. Hop on the Big Apple Express. The bus will take you right into State College where you can take a campus tour, do some downtown shopping, visit historic buildings, or see a ball game.

Have friends or family who live in New York? Do they want to see what a football town looks like? Maybe they want to see central Pennsylvania in the autumn. Either way, it’s not a problem with the Big Apple Express. Busses depart Friday at 8:00 p.m. from New York’s Port Authority.
