Visitor Parking Information

Thank you for visiting Penn State University. To help you make the most out of your visit, Transportation Services provides visitor parking options in a variety of locations throughout campus. 

Hourly Parking

Between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 12:00 a.m., Monday through Friday, hourly visitor parking at the rate of $1.00 per hour (cash only) is available at the following locations:

  • Nittany Parking Deck (next to the Nittany Lion Inn on Fischer Road)
  • HUB Parking Deck (next to the HUB on Shortlidge Road)
  • East Parking Deck (next to the Berkey Creamery on Bigler Road)

Please note that parking in the East and Nittany Parking Decks between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m., Monday through Friday, requires display of a valid visitor parking permit. Parking in the HUB Parking Deck between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. requires display of a valid visitor permit seven days a week.

One-Day Parking Permits

If you will be visiting campus for more than a few hours or if you would like to purchase visitor parking in advance of a visit, one-day parking permits are available for purchase for the following areas:

  • Yellow D (East Deck), Yellow F (Eisenhower Deck), Nittany Deck, Red A, and Orange Lots - $6.00
  • Commuter Lots (Lot 44, Stadium West, Porter North) - $4.00

One day parking permits are available for purchase at any Kiosk Information Booth, the Parking Office, or at the Centre County/Penn State Visitor Center. For the permit to be valid the date information for that day must be scratched and the permit must be displayed on the rear-view mirror of the vehicle. If overnight parking is needed on campus, please visit the Parking Office.

The Parking Office accepts cash, check or money order, LionCash+, and major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover) for permit purchases.  The Centre County/Penn State Visitor Center and all Kiosk Information Kiosk Booths take cash payment only.

Weekend Event Parking

On each Penn State home football weekend, as well as during other select event weekends, such as the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts, weekend parking permits are available for visitors beginning on Thursday prior to the event weekend.  These permits are valid for parking in all four campus parking decks (East, Eisenhower, HUB and Nittany), as well as at Lot Red A, with expiration date and time listed on the permit.

On Thursdays, the weekend permit can be obtained for $25.00 at the following locations and times:

- Parking Office at Eisenhower Parking Deck from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

- Lot Red A kiosk at White Course Drive from 7:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.

- East Deck, HUB Deck and Nittany Deck exit kiosk from 7:30 a.m. through midnight.

On Fridays, the weekend permit can be obtained for $20.00 at the entrance kiosks at all four campus parking decks (East, Eisenhower, HUB and Nittany), as well as at the Lot Red A kiosk at White Course Drive from 7:30 a.m. through midnight.

Parking Meters & Multi-Space Pay Stations

Parking meters are available in select areas of campus for short-term parking needs. All campus meters take U.S. quarters only, with the hours of operation and maximum time allowed posted on each meter. For information on meter locations on campus, please visit a Kiosk Information Booth.

Penn State Transportation Services will introduce new multi-space pay stations at select campus lots beginning on Monday, December 2, 2013.  These new stations will offer customers a greater range of options, increased convenience when paying for parking, and the ability to extend their time by phone at select stations.

Lots that utilize pay-by-license plate stations allow customers to park in any non-reserved space in that lot.  Customers then proceed to the pay station in that lot to purchase parking.  To use the pay-by-license plate stations, customers will need to enter the license plate number of their vehicle and the desired amount of time they wish to park.  Payment information and maximum time allowed vary by location and information can be found at each pay station. Pay-by-license plate stations will be available for use in the following campus lots: Lot Red A, Orange A Katz, Bryce Jordan Center Visitor Lot, Lot Yellow H South, and Lot Orange F.

Lots that utilize pay-by-space stations allow customers to park in numbered spaces located in the vicinity of the pay station.  To use the pay-by-space stations, customers will need to enter the space number for the parking space in which they are parked and the desired amount of time they wish to park. Payment information and maximum time allowed vary by location and information can be found at each pay station. Pay-by-space stations will be available for use in the following campus lots: Lot Yellow H Shields and the Eisenhower Visitor Lot.

How to Use Multi-Space Pay Stations

Using the multi-space pay stations is simple and easy.

1. Park your vehicle.

2. Note your license plate number of space number.

3. Locate the pay station associated with that parking lot.

4. Press [OK] button to start.

5. Follow the screen prompts.

6. Enter your license plate or space number.

7. Enter the desired amount of time.

8. Insert payment. Multi-space pay stations accept major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover), LionCash+, and select U.S. coins (nickels, dimes, quarters, and dollar coins).

9. Take your receipt.

How to Extend By Phone

Visitors will be able to extend their parking time by phone. The process is convenient using your mobile phone.

1. Pay for your parking at the meter using a credit card.

2. Enter your mobile phone number when prompted.

3. Upon receiving a reminder text message when parking is about to expire, reply with the amount of additional time needed.

A confirmation message indicating the parking session has been extended will follow.

Visitor Motorcycle Parking

Visitors traveling to campus by motorcycle may park at the Nittany, HUB, or East Parking Decks at the rate of $1.00 per hour (cash only). Short-term parking is also available at meters in select areas of campus (meters take U.S. quarters only).
